Aquarium

My sister came out to visit two weeks ago. We forgot our camera for the beach and most other things but while I was at work they went to the Norwalk aquarium. It sounds like it was really family oriented. Alyssa liked the sharks and the sting rays.

Movie star

So our girl's work at Yale has got her filmed by a group working on a project about how the mind develops and how children learn. Since we don't have the film (yet) here is one we took of her crawling and sticking her tongue out.

Now when I am trying to work at home, I hear "DaDaDaDaDa" and see her crawling toward me, wherever I am .

Connecticut, etc,

Ok, I am trying (hard) not to get too serious or political here. After several amusing things at the olympics including the 12 year old "womens" gymnastics team, the singer replaced by cute politbureau lipsinc girl, and the less amusing forced labor "re-education" camps for elderly women who applied for permits to protest in the designated (empty) protest areas, and then horrific Russian invasion of Georgia (and continuing looting), I should focus on something positive. So here it is: Connecticut has a lot to do in the summer. The first three pictures were from a walk around down town Milford and the last is the llama pen at bishop's Orchard where we go speacialty stuff and farm produce. This was Alyssa's first encounter with the wonderous beasts but unfortunately she was groggy.

Connecticut River Valley

These photos are from the steam train/river boat trip we took last weekend in the CT river valley. I love this area because it is a kinda odd semi-deserted are that peaked sometime between the colonial era and 100 years ago. Essex still has an annual "loosers day parade" when they commemorate the Brits takining over the town and burning all the ships they were secretly building. So we took a coal-fired steam train (the one used in the most recent Indiana Jones movie) up to a steam train on the river.

Step 3 and Chaos

Our camera broke :(. It was a weeding gift and was having trouble over the past year. Now, just after our fourth anniversary, it is dead. This blog will have to feature some pictures from our trip until we take some with the new camera.

I took, and presumably passed, a very procratinated Step 3, the final step before getting an independent medical liscence. There was really no rush since you have 7 years to take it from the time you take the first test (step 1). But with my own license I can work independently of the hospital. The 16 hour test (2 days) didn't seem too bad. It probably would have seemed like a long test before med school. I have to admit I did enjoy the chance to sneer at people in the testing center whining about their 6 hour test for their finace job or whatever. Not as funny as the guys a year ahead of me who took the first part of their radiation oncology boards in the same center as a message therapy group (Nuclear physics and DNA repair and pressure points?).

I haven't been availible to help much so our lives are still a bit in chaos. the apartment is a little cleaner than in this picture, mostly because Alyssa started to crawl, so we had to make time and straighten up.
