Feeling better

Our little girl is recovering from an ear infection and is now feeling a lot better. I watched her tonight while Marie went to kempo (note the Gi pants). Marie of course was teaching dance 3 weeks after the birth and came back to the kempo classes this month. Sensei wants Marie to take it easy, and won't let her get thrown or anything too rough. Aw come on, she's been back teaching dance for almost two months, let us throw her... :)
Below is a sad looking picture of Alyssa when she was sick.

Tribute to Huckabee

So enough baby-puppy pictures lest this blog get too lopsided. This past week however Mike Huckabee dropped out of the race. The governor who signed a full page add saying women should submit to their husbands is out of the race. Now I suppose it's one thing if you're a pastor giving a sermon on Ephesians (and you include the part about husbands), but seems a bit dangerous as governor. There were the anti-Mormon comments that he pleaded ignorance to, despite being the keynote speaker at an anti-Mormon conference in 1998. The sensitive chap who felt the proper response to people who disagreed with flying the confederate battle flag over government buildings was to "tell them where to stick the pole," is gone. The foreign policy wiz who seemed to be the only one in either party not to know about the N.I.E. report on Iran's nuclear program, and wondered when Pakistan would end martial law weeks after they had done so, will not represent us on the world stage. The folksy guy who was constantly having problems with ethics laws as governor and even set up a wedding-style registry to facilitate the flow of brib...uh gifts will not be our man to fix Washington. No federal role for the man who pressured parol boards to release murderers who "found Jesus". No more floating cross "Christian leader" commercials, dishonest push-polling calls, and donations from televangelists under investigation for fraud. . Alas, the man who's only higher education was in a Baptist madrassa will not be able fulfill his talibanesqe pledge to "change the constitution to fit God's law." (So much for render unto Caesar, eh Huck?)

Unfortunately, I can't whole heartedly give him my vote for worst candidate on either side. After all there was that sleazy "Two America's" guy who seemed to aspire to be the North American Hugo Chavez.

Yawns are contagious

Sorry for being incomunicado. We had our annual test at work this week. I'm glad that the dog and baby pictures may have helped Phil's family decide to get a dog. I'd just say that dogs are a lot of work. Not quite as much as babies, but certainly more than cats. And if they don't get enough attention they get crazy and destructive. It was tough having Sophia in the apartment as a puppy because she needed walked every few hours. Thank goodness for really nice neighbors who walked here while we were at work. That said, here are two pictures I took this morning. After the first I wanted to retake it because Baby was yawning. I quickly snapped a second and realized that her personal guard dog was yawning. I knew that yawns seem to be contagious for whatever psychological reason, but who knew that they could jump species!
